Day 2 of the Ken Paxton Impeachment Trial can be summed up like this: Tony Buzbee destroys the key witness, while Rusty Hardin stumbles around like Joe Biden.

Day 2 of the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was a huge blow to the prosecution. Corrupt media reports tried to paint this as a slam dunk to get rid of Paxton. But legal scholars observing this trial made it very clear that Rusty Hardin appeared to need an immediate pause in the action for protein shakes and Vitamin C IV’s. Hardin, once again, failed to deliver the missile to the target.

On the stand was the key witness, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s First Assistant Attorney General, Jeff Mateer. Rusty Hardin, prosecutor for the State of Texas, tried to paint Mateer as a strong Christian Conservative. Things went south quickly when defense attorney Tony Buzbee went full frontal assault on Mateer and said, “You called the FBI? That’s how you protected your friend?” Buzbee asked. “In order to help your friend — a guy who had given you a real plumb of a job — instead of asking you some questions, you circled up and decided to go to the FBI,” he went on. 

That caused experienced Legal Eagles to spit out their coffee. Buzbee actually could have gone full frontal assault on the Christian Conservative by reminding him of Matthew 18:15. That surely would have been “Lights Out”. 

Attorney Rusty Hardin was probably thinking about retirement properties in Dade County, Florida, because his “A” game was with his luggage, circling the carousel at Miami International Airport. Experts agree that he was certainly exhibiting frailty. Why else was he repeatedly asking full run-on questions? Why was Hardin leaving the witness to wonder which question to answer? At times, Rusty Hardin acted as if he had never been in the courtroom. Confusion from the prosecution is a nightmare for those looking to evict an Attorney General, who was legally elected by over 4 million voters.

Today attorney Tony Buzbee certainly earns the title of “The BuzSaw”, while Rusty Hardin goes home, looking as confused as Joe Biden climbing the steps of Air Force 1.
